This weeks in the spot light is a print of my light house painting.
I love storms, grey skies, thunder, lightening and wind. I love watching the savage storms we get in Australia. The original painting was inspired by the recent cyclone to hit the coast of Queensland. This light house on a cliff is representing how tough we Aussies are.

Faces and noses…….. it’s time I got serious about this art thing. I’m determined to draw and my angels perfectly! I’m really happy with my sketches today! They are really lovely. I think they’ve improved greatly. Thanks to the Art Sherpa’s you tube videos! If you are looking to improve your skills, watch her and others on you tube!
Tip: you need to practice drawing what you see, not what your mind thinks you see! This is more difficult than you would think!
I think it’s important to continue learning new skills, no matter how old you are. It’s certainly helped me get through some really un-happy times.
You can find videos of me in action on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/chrissyturleyartist and also on my Instagram at www.instgram.com/chrissyturley30.

As you can see, I am still having trouble with faces! Argh! It’s driving me mad! I think it might be time to do a little more research into them! You-tube tonight it is!
Fairies again! I love fairy art. Fantasy art is something that I would like to become better at. I love all those kinds of things. I love reading about fairies and vampires and all things magical. The worlds of Harry Potter and the likes really make me happy and get my imagination started!
I found this writing in google and I absolutely love it! I love getting creative with writing.

So I’m nearly at the half way mark. I am starting to see some improvement in proportions and being able to use my eraser a little less than usual. I’ve still got lots to work on.
I love insects. The colours and the way their bodies are shaped are really interesting. I’ve started looking at a few different types just to get a feel for how they work. I’m using reference photos from Pinterest for my practice sketches. However for the art that I sell I use my own photos or what is in my head. I have been looking at some of the free image sites and I’ll start using those soon.
My other half loves cars so I started practicing All ready for sports day! It’s those. I am hoping to draw something cool for his birthday which is coming up very shortly!
The original fairy drawing I used Spectrum Noir Markers on cotton paper and I am incredibly happy with the result. If you would like to purchase a print of my gorgeous fairy please visit my etsy shop here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ChrissyTurleyArtist

Practicing the female figure. I haven’t used any reference photos, these are just from my head. I obviously have the proportions right in some but not the others. I think I’ll do a study of the female form shortly. I think that will greatly improve my fairy drawings. The one I finished off today is outta whack a little bit but I’m really happy that I got it down on paper.
I’ve used water colour cotton paper, so the alcohol markers sucked in really quick and I wasn’t able to get a great blend. I’ll have to get some market paper for future marker drawings. I used Spectrum Noir Markers. I really love the colours.

So I’ve set the date for my first Triathlon. After a swim on Friday, an hour bike ride on saturday, a day of much needed rest on Sunday, I thought it best to give myself a lot of time to do my first sprint triathlon. Although I can do all 3 distances by themselves, I’m slow, it takes it out of me and I seriously doubt I would be able to do any of them by together.
On the 17th of September I will be starting the swim leg of my first triathlon. I’m so excited but I’m also scared as hell. I’ve got a 400m swim, 22ks of biking and a 5K run tot train for. I must remember that I need to give myself enough time to put the appropriate amount of training in. The bike leg scares me the most and I know me. I’ll give myself any excuse not to do it.
My new helmet, it doesn’t really match my bike but at least my head is protected! And I love th colour! Keep up to date with my day to day training and follow me on instagram www.instagram.com/chrissyturley30
Today I’ve been looking in one of my bridal magazines. I’m engaged to a gorgeous and handsome Welsh bloke and we’ve been engaged 2 years now. We still have no date for our wedding but that hasn’t stopped me looking and dreaming about how our perfect wedding will look. 🙂 I love drawing hands. This maybe why I love doing nails so much. Hands can have so much character and they always tell a story of their life.
Of course I’m drawing, sketching and this time using my Spectrum Noir Markers. I haven’t used them much, and the paper I’m using probably isn’t the best for them but, you gotta use what you got sometimes. Drawing people are another skill that needs to be improved upon! But at least I’m no longer afraid to do it. WIN!!!
